"Train the Trainer" Workshop
Summary Report
The
Tech Prep IWITTS "Train the Trainer" workshop was offered
at Cabrillo College on August 22 & 23, 2002. Twenty-one (21)
college and high school instructors, counselors and administrators
and one community project coordinator attended. The workshop was
well received and a great success. Participants were trained on
how to develop classroom and program strategic plans that recruit
and retain female students in career path classes and programs where
they are strikingly under-represented. The first day was devoted
to clarifying the need and how-to market to females for recruitment
purposes. Day two was devoted to strategies to retain females in
male dominated classes and programs. Both days participants worked
in groups to develop practical strategic plans. Not only did the
particpants feel the training was timely and powerful for them,
most expressed the desire to see this training offered again for
colleauges they felt would be interested but unavailable during
the summer.
Recommendation:
Bring the trainer back for one more two day training session with
more lead time so more instructors can benefit.

Additional comments? (on back)
- I
am excited to tackle Fall!
- Thanks
for your passion! You are excellent at listening attentively
but still maintaining control of discussion! Effective
leadership!
- Would
be great to have another workshop to college only and
high school only faculty, even through cross-institutional
contracts were fruitful.
- Keep
up the good work
